CARTA DEI DIRITTI DEI MORENTI

1. L'Eubiosia (la vita con dignità) è un diritto fondamentale di ogni essere umano;

2. Il Morente e la sua famiglia hanno il diritto alla più completa informazione nel rispetto della dignità dell'individuo;

3. La comunità non deve diventare in alcn modo e per qualsiasi motivo, causa o strumento di morte anticipata;

4. La Comunità deve garantire al Morente l'esercizio di tutti i diritti civili ed in particolare il diritto di voto presso il proprio domicilio;

5. La comunità deve garantire al morente e alla sua famiglia il mantenimento di un equilibrato rapporto con l'ambiente in cui vive;

6. La Comunità deve garantire al morente ed alla sua famiglia un'assistenza socio-sanitaria completamente gratuita e continuativa;

7. La Comunità deve assicurare a tutti i Sofferenti un livello di assistenza omogeneo e pienamente rispondente alle loro necessità;

8. La Comunità deve garantire al Morente la libertà di decidere del suo futuro nel pieno rispetto dell'Eubiosia e della sua coscienza;

9. La Comunità deve garantire al Morente il diritto di scegliere, in pieno libertà, di essere assistito a casa o in un ospedale tradizionale;

10. La Comunità deve garantire al Morente il diritto di scegliere, nel pieno rispetto della dignità professionale e dei codici deontologici, i sanitari che dovranno assisterlo.

 

RIGHTS OF THE DYING

1. Eubiosia (a dignified life) is a basic right of all human beings, from the time ofconception until death;

2. The community must in no way and for no reason become the cause or the means by which life is brought to a premature end;

3. The dying person and his/her family are entitled to uncensored information, out of respect for the individual’s dignity;

4. It is the community’s duty to guarantee free, continuous and specialized treatment for the terminal-ill person;

5. The dying person is entitled to choose freely whether to be treated at home or in hospital;

6. The dying person is to choose the health staff who will care for him/her, in total compliance with standards of professional dignity and deontological codes, irrespectiveof the pressures exerted by pen-pushers, lobbies or economic interest groups;

7. The community can accept the supplementary help supplied by voluntary staff, but it must ensure the dying to receive a uniform level of assistance, which matches theirneeds in every respect;

8. The community must provide incentives for families who choose home-care assistance programme for their dying;

9. The community must ensure the dying the right to continue having a balanced relationship with their environment (from moral, psychological, religious,economic and social standpoints);

10. The community must ensure the dying the freedom to decide his/her future in complete harmony with his/her cultural traditions, religious beliefs andconscience.
